Our Impact

Community & direct trade

Direct trade as a long-term relationship

We have built up a reliable chain of direct trade, starting with the seedling on the farm until the cup of coffee in your hand. We take responsibility and pride in offering you a clean, natural product that passed many hands collaborating in a responsible way until it reaches it’s final destination.

Direct trade and everyday consumption thus provide a stable perspective for the people who grow and process Café Río Lejos. Furthermore, it enables us to guarantee a long-term presence in forest restoration, regenerative agriculture and maintaining a nature reserve. Thus, direct trade allows ecological responsibility and economic viability to exist together.

Specialty coffees are less dependent on volatile world market prices and short-term discounts. By selling coffee directly to you, we maintain transparency and responsibility across the entire process — from cultivation and processing to roasting and delivery. This direct trade connects producers and consumers and does not require expensive intermediaries, warehousing, advertising and administration.

Choosing Café Río Lejos supports our mission

We offer you an exquisite single-finca specialty coffee at an affordable price. The revenue is reinvested directly into fair wages and secure employment, improved coffee cultivation, forest protection and restoration work.

We deliberately avoid simplified certification narratives or standardised impact claims. Instead, we rely on transparency, direct communication and long-term commitment to the land and the people involved.

Supporting Other Farms

Community at Café Río Lejos extends beyond our own land. Through collaboration with neighbouring farms and partners, we share experience, planting material and practical knowledge gained through years of regeneration work.

These exchanges support other farmers in restoring degraded land, transitioning to agroforestry systems and reducing dependence on extractive land-use models. Strengthening these local networks is essential for landscape-scale recovery.
